Spain are Champions again!

02 Jul 2012

Record breakers Spain beat Italy 4-0 to retain their European crown. They are the 1st team ever to win 3 major tournaments in a row (Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012).

Man City's David Silva opened the scoring, with Barcelona's new full back Jordi Alba adding a 2nd before half time.

Italy came out fighting and had a few good chances but then Thiago Motta got injured and because Italy had made their 3 subs, they had to play with 10 men for the last 30 mins!

It was too much for Italy to deal with and Spain we're pressing and pressing for a 3rd which came from Chelsea's Fernando Torres, he also then set up his Chelsea team mate Juan Mata for the 4th, which meant spain recorded the highest winning margin by any team in a major final! EVER!

Congratulations to Spain on their win and playing some of the best football we've ever seen!

Fernando Torres also broke a record of the 1st player to score in 2 Euro finals and to top it off he became the top scorer with 3 goals and 1 assist
